Front Cockpit Skeeter (Project)
Price: $ 4,400. An Unbelievable Opportunity!
Plenty of high-resolution images are available! You may wish to request pictures and/or information via email: poplar-1@sbcglobal.net or feel free to call me at (269) 649-1333.Originally inspired by Dan Clapp’s works, this lightweight boat was designed completely from wood! The builder possessed a burning desire to build a lighter and substantially more affordable craft for the average person’s budget than its composite-competition. That reason alone provided all of the incentive needed!  Hull length is 23’-6”. Springboard is strip-laminated at 10’ (6’ out - 4’under). The O.A.L. of fuselage & springboard together is 29’-6”. Mast includes an already-installed aluminum luff-tube,  is laminated, and measures 26’. No boom was built but a sufficient quantity of tulipwood is provided for that. The 24’ runner plank was not yet assembled but plenty of clear tulipwood and direction will be provided for that as well. Design platform incorporates a 23-1/2 degree hiking angle. Price for this state-of-the-art iceboat-project (as described above): $ 4,400. To secure purchase, Buyer must provide a 20% minimum non-refundable cash deposit in the amount of  $ 880. Bank or Postal Money Orders would also be an acceptable form of non-refundable down payment. This is an “As-is”, “Where is” sale. Located in Southwestern Lower Michigan, new owner will be responsible for *pick-up or any associated shipping charges and/or arrangements.
*As an additional option, the seller is offering to sell a lightly used 30’ iceboat trailer to help you get your new project home. Cost: $1,000. Seller also pointed out that it would be advisable to tow the trailer to a local auto mechanic for a safety check before departing on any long-distance journey. Mainly to checkout lights, re-pack  wheel-bearings and/or to possibly replace aged-tires. 12/07

FOR IMMEDIATE SALE – 1991 “Sparrow Hawk” C-Class Skeeter

Pictures and more details available at: poplar-1@sbcglobal.net - Only 100 hours total time! Located in Southwest Lower Michigan & now ready for inspection! Designed and built by professional boat designer/builder Rick Dorothy in 1991, this Sparrow Hawk was one of only two built ever! (Its sister-boat now resides in Oregon). Constructed from lightweight quarter-sawn Tulip Wood and boasting gorgeous book-matched Birch Decks! This particular craft-design was Rick’s idea of the perfect iceboat!
The 1st-class hardware package is virtually all Renegade through and through, the only major exception being the use of Harkin Sheaves and pillow-block rear chocks. This is an amazingly lightweight, beautiful and high-performance iceboat that was designed with all of the Renegade’s principals in mind. Design platform sports a 23-1/2 degree hiking angle for predictability and stability. West System Epoxy used for all construction and initial finishing, then clear-coated with catalyzed Deltron Acrylic Enamel for a stunning finish!
We shouldn’t forget to mention the Nichol-Chrome plated runners! You can check your look in those beauties each time you remove your helmet!
Priced reduced to: $ 6,000. (As is-where is sale-lucky new owner picks-up).  To schedule a viewing appointment, please contact Greg Ward by email: poplar-1@sbcglobal.net or phone (269) 649-1333 after 6:00 pm.  12/07

FOR SALE: T-HOUND / MAST ROTATORS

The T-Hound / mast rotator / spreader bar fitting that
you may have seen in action on DN 5224 (the neon
yellow boat at the 2007 Worlds) is now available.

There are a number of makes and models in use but if I
may say so, this version is pretty sweet. It all but
eliminates mast inversions, is very clean
aerodynamically and allows full articulation at the
shroud attachment. They look good too!

Available to fit either T-Hound (Kent) or tang-style
(Sherry) mast hounds. Designed for DNs but at least
one is in use on a Jet 14.

PLATE RUNNERS- Sarns bullnose plates, black
powder-coat finish. Very good shape. Includes bag.
$500

We have them for sale- Call or email for pics and
price! t_thieler@yahoo.com 401-258-6230 10/07

Chickadee ice boats:
This year Dundee and I started making ice boats for sale.  Our web site is www.chickadeeiceboats.com.  We are located in Sunapee, NH.  Our uniqueness is that we offer our customers an opportunity to use their Sunfish, Force 5 or Laser sailboat sail - essentially they sail year round!.  They take their boat's "softwater" sail, and use it as a "hardwater" sail for their Chickadee ice boat.   One of our site pictures demonstrates a Sunfish sail being used.  (Webmasters note: caution: softwater rigs and sails are not designed for the high loads of an iceboat. Generally the equipment is not strong enough, sails are too big and full, be careful.  Also, you need to stay the rig)

We would appreciate very much if you would let your members know of our presence at www.chickadeeiceboats.com.

Also, we will shortly be adding a section on site for Other Ice Boat Enthusiasts, and we would like your permission to list your Internet link.  Certainly you are welcome to list our site.

Safety gear and other equipment:

Hard water is on the way, and if you don't have your ice safety equipment
yet, I'd like to recommend Swedish Ice Claws.  The New Hampshire Fish & Game
Department can back me up on this.  All New Hampshire game wardens carry Ice
Claws, and for good reason.  Last winter one warden broke through thin ice
on his snow machine.  His machine sank to the bottom of the lake, but he
used his Ice Claws to pull himself out of the water in seconds.

Why do Ice Claws work so well?  Because they come in a specially-designed
plastic holster that you wear around your neck, where you can reach them
quickly in an emergency -- BEFORE the water soaks through your clothes and
you start to panic.

Sure you can make your own "ice picks" or "bear claws", but why bother?
Swedish Ice Claws are only $15 with free shipping.

Also check out the Nordic Lifeline, a summer/winter "throw bag" stuffed with
80 feet of floating polypropylene rescue rope.  And Nordic Skates, clip-on
ice skating blades that you use with cross-country ski boots.  Good for when
the wind dies.

Look for Ice Claws, Nordic Skates and Nordic Lifelines at selected retailers
in northern New England, or order direct from:
